Hello! My name is Phillip aka Trail Mix!

Just to answer the question right out the gate. Why Trail Mix?! Well, basically, I make homemade trail mix and for the last 3 years or so I have made it a point to make enough to give Stephen some for his pack. I should tell you, by "some" I mean a gallon zip loc bag worth. It is always original and usually has some un-conventional stuff in it. So, Stephen dubbed me "Trail Mix". That is how I came to my trail name.

More about me

I LOVE the outdoors. Hiking, fishing, hunting, cutting firewood, you name it. My all time favorite place (to date anyway) is hands down Black Canyon Lake. It is quite the haul to get there but well worth the effort. If you are interested you can check out my Youtube channel Bearded Bros 4 Christ, I have our hiking videos up there. Anyway, Stephen and I have been hiking together since 2017. It all started as just a comment that was almost made just jokingly. Neither one of us had ever done a backpacking trip before and we just decided to jump in head first and did a 3 day trip to Lost Lake in the Beartooth Mountains south of Red Lodge Montana (another beautiful spot). Since that first trip we have covered ALOT of ground in the Beartooth Mountains. Black Canyon Lake, Lost Lake, Keyser Brown Lake, Slide Rock Lake, and Glacier Lake are the major lakes that we have visited. We have summited two mountain tops so far, Thunder Mountain (just over 11,000 ft) and Mount Rearguard (right at 12,300 or so). At the time I am writing this we are planning on summiting Beartooth Mountain ( the mountain ranges name sake) which sits right at 12,500 (give or take).

You may be asking why a podcast (actually it is more like VLOG) that is an easy one. There is one thing that Stephen and I love more than outdoors. That is sharing the love of Christ with others. We do not live close together so we can not get together as often as we would like. So, we thought if we started doing a podcast (The Trail Mix) then we could get together virtually and share what ever God puts on our hearts both with each other and with all of you. We decided that because of all of the darkness out there, all of the negativity you see on social media, we were going to try to shine a light into that and put out something good, something fun, and share God through that using our experiences both on the trail and in everyday life.

I truly hope that you enjoy our videos and if you would like to having something clarified, or just have a comment or general question, please reach out there is numerous ways to contact us. We both have Facebook pages, emails, and messenger. My prayer for all of this is simply this, that we would glorify God, and share the saving power of the blood of Jesus Christ that was given to all of us free for the taking. All you have to do is accept that gift and we would love to help you with that. Well, if you have read this far, thank you! Again, Please contact us with any question, comment, or suggestion of something you would like to hear talked about on the podcast!
